Darryl Russell

Associate Professor Darryl Russell leads the Fertility and Conception Theme in the Robinson Research Institute University of Adelaide. He is an Associate Editor of the journals Biology of Reproduction and Reproduction Fertility and Development.  Darryl is a cell biologist specialising in intercellular communication controlling normal function and pathologies of the ovary.  His research focuses on hormone action and tissue morphogenic mechanisms which collectively establish and regulate ovarian function.  His study of molecular endocrine control of ovarian cyclic remodelling has produced new insights into the determinants that produce mature oocytes with high developmental potential and hence a healthy start to life.  His research uses unique in vitro methods, animal models and clinical cohort sampling to discover markers of, and methods for, enhancing oocyte potential.
