Iain Clarke

Iain Clarke studied agricultural science at Massey University (NZ) and obtained his PhD at the University of Edinburgh in 1977. He took a post-doctoral position and Melbourne University, with an Australian Wool Corporation Fellowship. He established a research group at Prince Henry’s Institute (1999 – 2005), conducting research in reproductive neuroendocrinology. He moved to Dept Physiology Monash University in 2005 and became Chairman of the Department in 2007. Prof Clarke established an international profile in neuroendocrinology and has published more than 475 research papers. He is best known for his unique experimental models in sheep that have provided fundamental underpinning of the textbooks of reproduction. He continues to be active in research, even though he runs a large teaching unit. He has trained a large number of students and post-doctoral fellows in the field of reproductive neuroendocrinology and has received a number of international awards.
