The Society for Reproductive Biology (SRB), in partnership with the Society for Reproduction and Fertility (SRF, UK) and the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR, North America), is pleased to announce Dr Roser Vento-Tormo as the recipient of the 2026 Roger V. Short Medal and Lecture.
Dr Vento-Tormo is recognised for her pioneering research on the female reproductive system and her innovative application of cutting-edge technologies to reproductive tissues. Her work has revealed fundamental insights into how cells interact to form functioning tissues, how these tissues develop during embryonic growth, and how cellular identities contribute to genetic risk and disease.
Most notably, Dr Vento-Tormo's research has transformed our understanding of immune cells within reproductive tissues. Her discoveries have shown that these cells act not only as the body's defenders, but also as critical architects that help shape tissue structure and function, providing important new insights into reproductive health and disease.
The Roger V. Short Medal and Lecture recognises outstanding early- to mid-career researchers whose discoveries demonstrate the creativity, innovation, and scientific excellence exemplified by Professor Roger V. Short's remarkable legacy. Dr Vento-Tormo will be presented with the Medal and deliver the Roger V. Short Lecture in 2027.
